Title: "Harkening Back To 'Four Saints' During The Harlem Renaissance"

Description: Four Saints in Three Acts—a groundbreaking 1934 opera by Virgil Thomson and Gertrude Stein that united modernist art, an all-Black Harlem cast, and spiritual themes rooted in the Harlem Renaissance’s church community, including ties to institutions like St. Philip’s Episcopal Church that nurtured much of the era’s musical talent.
